The Porter’s Store began with an unlikely brief: turn the former luggage store beneath Jersey’s Pomme d’Or Hotel into a permanent cocktail bar. The space had first been tested as a temporary Christmas venue, and its success led to a more ambitious reinvention.

A—NY developed the interior around the hidden, below-street character of the room, with a central horseshoe bar, low lighting, velvet curtains and brass detailing creating a setting that feels deliberately removed from the hotel above. The design draws on the stories and rituals of hotel life without slipping into pastiche, giving the bar an identity of its own while still belonging to the Pomme d’Or.

The Porter’s Store has since become an established part of St Helier’s nightlife and was named Best Interior at the 2022 Jersey Design Awards.
